It's mommy's turn to update on Nat Nat's progress yet again! :)
Nat is now 20 months old (well, to be more precise he turns 20 months old on the 20th June!) Just another 4 more months before he goes into the TERRIBLE TWOS stage!
Such a lot of developments since. Speech wise, Nat is well ahead of his peers. He's good with both English and Chinese, and he is able to pick up words after hearing them once. He can speak in short sentences, and also tell us if he likes or dislikes something. He is learning to count from 1 - 10 and he knows his ABCs by heart! He can't say the whole alphabet but if I say A, B, C, and stop he can say D and when I continue on, he can usually tell me the next alphabet from where I stopped.
Nat Nat is able to enjoy his Little Lambs (Sunday school for the tots) a lot more now compared to when he first joined at 18 months. He likes to sing (quite a flat tone), and is starting to imitate the teachers when they do the action songs. He also loves to hear the bible stories and will sit attentively, taking in every word. Of course, his favourite story teller in Little Lambs is his Yee Ma! Once he knows Yee Ma is telling bible story that week, he will be watching out for her presence , and keep asking for Yee Ma to read bible story!!!
Nat is also more active now, and he walks a lot more by himself, although there are many times when he refuse to walk and wants to be carried. Woe be to us cause he's getting heavier!
It's a really fun stage right now as he is a more cheerful and less prone to temper tantrums. I suppose that's because he is learning to tell us what he wants. We'll also tell him to stop whining and tell us what he wants.
Discipline wise, I haven't use physical discipline like caning. The most we have done is to scold him and leave him to cry on his own. This lil boy hates to be alone and he will run to either me or daddy in a pitiful manner and sob on our shoulders.. Ha Ha Ha... We realised that he listens to reason so we tend to explain to him in a calm manner what he has done wrong, and ask him to say sorry. Funnily, he will do so but if we shout at him or scold him, he will resolutely refuse to say sorry even after he has calmed down! =p
We've enjoyed every single minute with our dear boy. I so look forward to picking him up from child care after work, and our evening time together though short is always spent in great joy (heh, well just about always).
Being parent is helping me to be a better person in a certain sense. I am learning to be more patient and because I know the best way to teach Nat is to set a good example for him to see. It's a slow process but with God's grace, I am learning to! :)
Watch out for Mommy's update when Nat turns 2!!
Love,
Serene
