It's mommy's update once again. Our dearest boy is turning 2 next month, 20th October and I thought since it's been a while from my previous update, I should give an update on how our lil one has been doing.
It's been a great joy to see Nat Nat grow and learn. He is like a sponge soaking everything up nowadays. His favourite question is "What is this?" and he asks this question many many times throughout the day. I'm so proud that he is curious and eager to learn most of the time! Sometimes I do get annoyed when he asks what is this or what is this thing doing? Heh Heh... Maybe at times I just am at a loss to answer like when he asks what is the crayon doing or what is the towel doing! HAHAHAHA....
Nat still loves to read and every night before bed time we read many stories to him. Now, he can memorise some of the books and he can complete whole sentences of a story if we start reading off part of a sentence.
He loves to eat fruits, and we give him all sorts! Plums, blueberries, mangoes, strawberries, pomelo, kiwis, nectarines, melons (all types), papayas and he loves to wheedle his grandparents into giving him jambu which they eat everyday, if he spots them eating it. =) We don't stop him since fruits are wholesome and healthy, it's a great alternative to ice-creams, sweets, biscuits!
We have this little boy who is growing to be a big boy, he has an extremely good memory so we do watch what we say to him. If we know we can't give him something, we try not to "con" him in order to get him to behave or do something. He also does many things on his own now, like carrying his own bowl of snack/fruit by himself to the living room after I pass it to him. He has a good habit of taking of his own shoes after reaching home, and keeping them on the shoe rack. We're trying to teach him to wear his own shoes but it's been an uphill task coz he will ask us to help him!
Although we have our little frustrations due to the difficulty for Nat to communicate what he wants exactly, after all he's just a 2 year old tot and language wise he is trying to pick up, it's been quite encouraging that Nat does learn fast. We tell him that if he throws a tantrum, mommy and daddy won't know what he needs so he has to tell us he needs help or he feels upset. He listens to reasoning rather than physical discipline or shouting. Yet I have spanked him on a few occasions when he is out of limits, but we always explain to him our actions after he has calmed down and a hug & kiss after always sorts out ruffled feathers =)
Motherhood is tiring, what with work all day and having to take care of Nat after but I must say that he is a joy to take care of and we love every minute we spend with him (yes even when he acts cranky). And daddy is a godsend, he's such an involved parent and I get a lot of help from him :)
With Nat turning 2, I'm sure we will have more fun as he matures and his language skills develop even more. It's already quite funny when you hear the things he says and his childlike faith and happiness is very intoxicating. I love how he charms the people he meet: our neighbors, taxi/bus drivers, even strangers when we go out love this adorable boy.
And of course, what's an update without some photos of the cutey yah. Please enjoy photos of Nat @ childcare this month =)
